Stop questioning me and ask yourself...

(This came across my facebook news feed, it is not my writing. Link here

...There is no reason to argue with me, I have been you. There is no reason to give me your excuses, I have used them. There is no reason to tell me your side, I have been on it.

Have you ever been where I am at? Do you listen to the reasons I give? Understand the side I take?

What will it take for you to leave what you know for what you should know?

Have you ever looked through the eyes of another, let go of your sight to view what they do even for a moment? Are you afraid of what you might see might feel?

Have you ever considered  anothers suffering? Do you care? How do you justify someone suffering for you? Is your ego so strong you feel to be above another? Your life is worth more? What makes one child's life greater then another? Why should one mother have their child and another mother lose theirs? Should you be allowed to keep your family unit, while another one is torn apart?

Is a heart beat not a heart beat no matter what chest it rests in? Is pain no less pain if it is not you feeling it?

Is language not a language merely because you fail to understand it?  Does communication not exist because you have not yet learned to reciprocate the message?

What will it take for you to look into your soul and question what is around you?

You see the images of suffering, yet close your eyes. You hear the cries of pain, yet do not listen. Why?

How is it you can justify the beliefs in which you hold onto so tightly? When does your compassion come into play? What does it take for anothers life to be as important to you as yours? What does it take for you to acknowledge anothers pain and suffering at your hand?

What does one have to possess for you to consider it to be worthy of life? If it has a heart beat is that merely enough? If it Has feelings, does that qualify? Has desires? Can Communicate? Can gain knowledge,  how about then? Why then is it okay for that individual to have to die for you?

Should one not as intelligent as you be put to death or should you have mercy? Should those who have no home have to die? What about those who have lost their family, should they die as well? Those injured what then? Mentally handicapped, how do you find compassion for some yet not others?

Why do you get so offended when the choices you make that effect anothers life are questioned? Why do you feel it is your right to decide the fate of another? What god would stand by while you torture and murder their creation? Does thou shall not kill mean something different to you?

Why is it you call those who have acknowledged and respect anothers right to live as crazy? Is the one who feels the pain of another wrong? One that is openly horrified at the pain caused to another, offends you? Or is it your choice to remain silent that irritates you so deeply? How is it you find the words to defend the atrocities inflicted on another?

I have asked myself these very same questions, and  finally found peace in my answers. For way to long I made the choice to live blindly. To refuse to look at reality eye to eye. The selfish excuses were  easy to hide behind. Humanity may be a long way away from change, but a human isn't. If you can honestly acknowledge what you chose to ignore, and have any compassion you have the ability to change. If the choices you make in your life cause harm to another they are no longer Your choices to make without accountability. There will come a time when human law is judged by a moral one, and sadly most will be found guilty. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Free yourself of your public excuses and ask yourself privately, why you live how you do Why you hold on to the views you do.

No excuse will ever change the fact. If you indulge in animal exploitation you are directly responsible for the murder of a life. A life which is ended for you.

The information is out there what will you do with it?

“Animals do have a voice. If you ignore their suffering, I will remind you of it. If you don't understand them, I will translate. If you don't hear them, I will be their voice. You may silence them but you cannot silence me as long as I live.” ~ Anita Mahdessian
